On December 10, 1997 I was driving home from a holiday party and rounded a curve in a Jeep Wrangler on the outside lane. Another car coming t he other way and I collided, breaking my skull and severly injuring my brain - CHANGING MY LIFE FOREVER. But I lived!!!

I went to several hospitals for several years starting at Jefferson and am finding my life much different!! Now at least I am “growing”. I seem to get better daily.

Chelle was appointed my Guardian so she could take care of me. When she first took care of me, she had to feed me through a tube in my belly, bathe me in bed, dress me, wash my clothes and make sure I had clothes to fit. (Particularly as I really gained weight.)

Since that time she has helped me “grow” from being dependent for everything to having a dog of my own who I now take care of.

I still have some remiaining problem areas though i seem to get better daily.
My problems include memory particularly recent and short term. One of my eyes does not function as well as it used to. I have to use my daily planner to keep records and help substitute for loss of short term memory. Sometimes I am a little unsteady when I walk. But weekly workouts helps at he gym.

I have a volunteer job weekly at the Lower Meriorn Consevancy (which I love). I keep two gardens - OVERGROWN ( my Dad was a landscape Architect so I am used to that sort of work) I try to maintain a “busy” social life including Church, Theatre, lucheons and dinners at the main building, luncheons with friends and now I do all my own laundry, take care of my room (and dog) and have a computer.

My life since the accident has really changed, but I seem to “grow” steadily - things seem better daily. Thank you for listening to my story!
